Regulations in force since June 1, 2019 (240 CMR 8.01) require 1,000 hours of barber school and replaced the old Apprentice/Master Barber tiers. The Board's apprentice policy only lets a school-run apprentice program substitute up to 400 shop hours after 600 school hours, so there is no route without school. mass.gov and malegislature.gov would not load, so age and education could not be confirmed, and the exam type comes from a mass.gov search snippet.
