17 DCMR 3703.7 (amended May 22, 2026) sets 1,250 barber school hours, but the DLCP board page still lists 1,500, so the board page appears out of date. The apprenticeship is 500 classroom theory hours plus 2,000 work hours over one to two years (17 DCMR 3704); licensed cosmetologists get up to 1,000 hours of credit and need 250 more hours (3703.10).
